4th November 2020

Dear Member
From Thursday morning at 00:001am, all tennis courts in England must temporarily close in line with the UK Government guidelines, as set out here.
Unfortunately this means that all tennis at Oxford Sports will cease during this period, including all coaching sessions, pay and play sessions, recreational tennis and team tennis. It is with a very heavy heart that we will be locking the courts tomorrow morning.
We understand how frustrating this will be and we remain hopeful that the UK Government will look into bringing back outside tennis as soon as possible.
We understand how frustrating this will be and we remain hopeful that the UK Government will look into bringing back outside tennis as soon as possible.
However, it is not all doom and gloom! We will not stop working to improve Oxford Sports tennis and we have set out below some of the work and initiatives that we will be being working on in the next month.
We appreciate the disappointment you will all have experienced with the loss of ability to play tennis at Oxford Sports during some of this membership year. Although out of our control, we are truly sorry for this.
With this in mind, we have decided to offer all members a free month of membership in April 2021, giving back just a little to help compensate you for the loss.
We would also like to provide you with the opportunity for when you are back on court, to bring a guest to play at the club during December (post lockdown) and January, free of charge, for as many times as you would like.
As the saying goes, every little helps!
With all junior coaching now suspended for the next 4 weeks, we will be extending the Autumn term into the Spring term by the amount of sessions lost, ensuring that no one loses out on coaching sessions.
We hope to see all our junior stars back on court as soon as possible.
For those people wanting to keep their tennis skills going through the lockdown, we have several weeks of challenges from our own Dave Tuck. From footwork drills to racket skills, from body control to fitness sessions, all aspects of the tennis game are covered to keep you going. Click the link below to try one of the sessions out and remember to have fun. If you are feeling brave, why not send us a video of you doing one of the sessions!
Think you know tennis? How well do you know all the rules? Do you know all the past winners and losers?
Over the next few weeks we will be sending out tennis quizzes for people to try. Prizes will be on offer for the winners, including a coaching session with one of the excellent coaching team here at Oxford Sports.
Watch this space for more details and start revising your tennis knowledge now!
The new court booking system is nearly here! Over the next few weeks we will be working hard behind the scenes to get the system configured, tested and ready to go live for when we are allowed back on court in December. More information on how the new system will work, including how you can book and cancel courts, will be available soon.
We will be sending out a questionnaire soon. We need to know what we could be doing better. Your opinion and feedback will help shape the future of the club and will allow us to align our efforts with the areas that you feel are important. Please do take the time to complete the questionnaire and provide us with your feedback. We will appreciate it.
