New Club Tournament Fun
The first EYR tournament took place at Oxford Sports on Boxing day 2018.
EYR as we all know stands for Escape Your Relatives. Much needed when those unwanted…sorry loving relations turning up at the house and seeming to stay much longer than was first anticipated.
17 people did the ‘escape’ to play some great tennis on a festive morning. The numbers were ideal as we had 8 men and 8 women. The 17th being the umpire/sort couples/tell players what to do person.
Mikhail made an appearance; he resides in Germany. So that’s a long way to come to play tennis. Next furthest was Trevor, Trevor lives in Newcastle (some people think that is as far away as Germany!).
This was sort of Trevor’s idea; we met up at Dave Tucks wedding and he mentioned that he visits Ann Tuck (sister in law) over the Xmas holidays.
“How about a game of tennis on Boxing day then Ed ?”.
” That sounds like a great idea..”
So Sarah and I decided to open up the idea to the club. There was a fantastic turn out and so the EYR tournament was born. Blame Trevor everyone. Congratulations to the Mitchell’s who where top man and top lady on the day. Also well played John and Luke who were 2nd and 3rd; also Sarah and Anna 2nd and 3rd ladies.
See you all boxing day 2019!
